Current dental students, staff, faculty and patients span across multiple generations. Generations are typically characterized by shared values and goals, which shape how individuals engage with society and what their expectations are of their schools, workplaces and health care providers. These differences in values across generations can be points of tension within a workplace; if harnessed correctly, the differences can also enrich the workforce through implementing bidirectional mentoring, considering the values of various groups when making policies and creating a workplace and school environment that will attract and retain the best and brightest. In this webinar, we will explore some of these tensions and opportunities.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the factors that influence different generations’ value sets.
- Describe tensions based on generational differences in a dental school setting.
- Explain ways in which differences can be harnessed for strengthening the workplace, school or health care facility.
This webinar is presented by the ADEA Section on Business and Financial Administration and the ADEA Section on Clinic Administration. Learn more about joining these Sections, as well as ADEA's other Sections and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) online.
