Dr. Shiyao Liu is Senior Director of Higher Education Research at ADEA. In this role, Dr. Liu leads the ADEA U.S. Dental School Faculty Census and the Allied Program Director Survey, advancing ADEA’s national data initiatives through analysis of U.S. dental school faculty workforce trends, development of faculty compensation and allied dental program director reports, and delivery of insights that inform institutional planning across U.S. dental schools. 

Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in Biological Education from Purdue University and an M.D. from Capital Medical University, China. Her work focuses on translating national faculty workforce data into practical insights for dental school leaders, administrators and faculty. She is passionate about leveraging data to strengthen academic workforce planning, support evidence-based decision-making and deepen understanding of the evolving dental education landscape.
