Beyond Safe: You Belong (A Student Perspective)

Recorded On: 07/06/2023

The ADEA Climate Study conducted in 2022, revealed that members of the LGBTQ+ community had a lower sense of both well-being and belonging compared to other sexual orientations and gender identities. This webinar, through questions posed to a panel of LGBTQ+ students, will explore their sense of inclusion and belonging at dental and allied dental institutions. Discussing their personal experiences, we will explore ways to better support LGBTQ+ students and how to make LGBTQ+ inclusion and belonging a reality in dental education.

Learning Objectives:

• Explore the importance of a sense of belonging for LGBTQ+ students in dental and allied dental education.
• Identify potential barriers to LGBTQ+ students’ sense of belonging and discuss ways to overcome identified barriers.
• Discuss strategies that can help foster an environment of inclusion and belonging for dental and allied dental students.
