ADEA Canadian Dental School Climate Assessment Key Findings

NonProfit HR, consultants for the ADEA Climate Study, will share key findings from the inaugural ADEA Climate Study and baseline data collected. The Nonprofit HR consultants will share the Canadian-specific data and major findings for each of the 10 categories covered within the climate study (e.g., overall climate, well-being, sense of belonging, inclusive environment, humanistic environment, inclusive culture, cultural competence, harassment and discrimination, welcomeness, equitable policies and practices).  

Learning Objectives: 

  • Summarize key ADEA Canadian Climate Study findings across the 10 survey categories.
  • Describe the key data themes that emerged from the climate study regarding students, faculty, staff, administrators and marginalized populations within these survey groups.
  • Discuss ADEA Climate Study activities to assist participating dental schools and allied dental education programs in their strategies and use of their school-/program-level findings.

Rachael Forester, Ed.D.

Rachael has been doing equity work in higher education for over a decade. Most recently, Rachael served as the Associate Director of the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement at UNC Charlotte, where she also obtained her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership in Higher Education, focusing on racial equity. As a critical whiteness scholar, Rachael’s research includes understanding and deconstructing whiteness to promote racial equity. In 2020, Rachael started a free, international White accountability group to assist White people in doing critical self-work as change agents for racial equity and to assist organizations in creating transformative equity practice to shift policies, practices, procedures and culture. She also serves on a multi-university research team exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ identified students’ experiences within STEM and has published on the topics of activism, LGBTQ+ experiences and race.

Steven Krzanowski, M.A.

Throughout Mr. Krzanowski's career in the higher education and nonprofit sectors, he has developed and executed diversity, equity and inclusion programs and strategies. In his current role, he works with industry leaders as a thought partner to uncover inequities in organizational systems, address gaps in knowledge and skills, and develop intentional, data-driven, actionable outcomes to advance EDIJ initiatives.

Matthew Swain, Ph.D.

Matt Swain, Ph.D. is a Senior Psychometrician at the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and a Consultant at NonProfit HR.

He holds a Ph.D. in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University. His experience in outcomes assessment, statistical modeling, and DEI research spans 12 years at various higher education institutions, testing organizations, and research firms. His research interests include missing data, practical issues in item response theory, and DEI outcomes.
